Few of us are aware that a BioShock movie was planned before the release of the game which unfortunately never made it past the production process. Gore Verbinski, the director of BioShock movie, revealed that they are not able to find a studio which would provide enough funding for creating the horrifying underwater world.

The game, BioShock is set in 1960, in which the player guides the protagonist, Jack, after his airplane crashes in the ocean near the bathysphere terminus that leads to the underwater city of Rapture.

Built by the business magnate Andrew Ryan, the city was intended to be an isolated utopia, but the discovery of ADAM, a plasmid which grants superhuman powers, initiated the city’s turbulent decline.

It would have been interesting to see a BioShock movie with the Raptures look and feel which would not have shirked at showing its ugly side as the game received universal acclaim. Mainstream press reviews had praised the immersive qualities of the game and its political dimension.
